Nathaniel Bassey

Nathaniel Bassey (born August 27, 1981) is a Nigerian gospel musician, pastor, and trumpeter. He is originally from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, but was born and raised in Lagos. His father, Mr. E. Joshua Bassey, was a minister in the Apostolic Church Bashua Assembly.

He studied International Relations and Politics at the University of Lagos, then continued in London, and also studied music at Middlesex University Summer School.

Music Career and Ministry

Began his music journey in church before joining the Rhodes Orchestra, where he played trumpet. Initially involved in jazz and secular music, he later dedicated himself fully to gospel.

He is well known as a worship leader, songwriter, and for his trumpet-led worship sessions.

In 2017, he started the Hallelujah Challenge, an online midnight worship and prayer event that quickly gained massive participation worldwide.

His ministry emphasizes deep worship, intimacy with God, and the power of praise.

Personal Life

Nathaniel Bassey is married to Sarah Bassey. They got married in 2013, and their union has been described as a supportive partnership, with Sarah often appearing by his side in ministry activities. Together, they have children, though he generally keeps his family life private. Nathaniel is also an ordained pastor and serves actively in The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
