Nathaniel Bassey – Biography

Early Life & Background

Nathaniel Bassey was born on August 27, 1981, in Lagos, Nigeria, and hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono in Akwa Ibom State. He grew up in a Christian home where his father was a minister, which greatly influenced his spiritual and musical journey. He studied International Relations at the University of Lagos, pursued further studies in London, and also trained in music at Middlesex University Summer School.

Musical Beginnings & Career Development

He started out playing the trumpet in church and later joined the Steve Rhodes Orchestra. In 2008, he recorded his debut album Elohim in Cape Town, South Africa, marking the start of his professional gospel music career.

Notable Projects & Ministry

Nathaniel is the convener of the global worship movement known as the Hallelujah Challenge, which began in 2017 as an online midnight worship and prayer session. He also pastors The Oasis Lagos, the youth church of RCCG Kings Court in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Personal Life

He got married to Sarah Bassey in 2013, and they have children together.
