Full Name: Nqubeko Mbatha

Nationality: South African

Early Life & Education

Nqubeko grew up involved in church music from a young age.

He studied music formally at Natal Technikon (now Durban University of Technology), majoring in piano and other aspects of light music.

Music Career & Ministry

He began his professional music journey by winning a songwriting competition that brought him before several well-known South African musicians.

Early in his career, he served for many years as musical director, and later as producer, of Joyous Celebration, South Africa’s major gospel ensemble.

Around 2012, he left that role to pursue a solo career, signing with Universal Music, and co-founding Koko Records (a gospel music label).

Nqubeko has worked as a music director and producer for many high-profile live shows, award ceremonies, television gospel programmes, and theatre productions.
