Full name: Joyce Akosua Twene

Born May 15, in Accra, Ghana

Parents: Christopher Kwabena Twene (father) and Gladys Yaa Kyewaa (mother)

She is the fourth of several children

Grew up in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, where she did her primary and junior high school education

Struggles & Survival

Her mother raised several of the children mostly alone; life was often difficult financially

To help survive, she sold items like pure water, second-hand clothes, brooms, and gari (a kind of cassava product)

At one point, she walked long distances in search of her father and faced hardship returning without money

Music Career

Started singing in church at about age 14

Was part of a band in Kumasi called “See Them Band” as the youngest member, and also worked as a backing vocalist for established artists in Ghana

First album released in 2007 under the name Joyce Tuffuor, titled Obi Ntu Nyame Fo (“Nobody Advises God”)

Later rebranded as Joyce Blessing; gained major popularity with her song Monko Mo Akyi from the Heavy Price album

Marital & Relationship Status

She was married to her manager, Dave Joy, and they have three children together

The marriage ended in divorce around 2020

She has expressed interest in marrying again, saying she believes in love and sees possibility for a future relationship

Philanthropy & Character

She has a foundation for giving to vulnerable people in Ghana (e.g. the deaf, blind, accident victims, mentally challenged)

Known for being outspoken about issues in the gospel industry and her own life, including hardship, betrayal, and faith
