His father was murdered in 1976; after that, the family continued with music as a way to heal and minister

His solo gospel career began in earnest in mid-1980s; one of his early singles is “Holy Spirit” (released around 1986)

He founded High Praise Centre, a church in Vosloorus (east of Johannesburg)

He also runs a record label / enterprise called Dube Connection
