Benjamin Dube (born January 23, 1962) is a South African gospel artist, pastor, songwriter, and producer.
He leads High Praise Centre church in Vosloorus, near Johannesburg.
Early Life & Foundation
Born in Johannesburg, youngest of five siblings in a Christian, musical family.
Father was an evangelist and guitarist; mother was a singer. Music and faith were central growing up.
Started singing with his siblings as a child (“Dube Family Singers”).
Faced a personal tragedy early: his father was murdered in 1976. This influenced much of his life and ministry.
Music Career & Style
Started his solo gospel music career around the mid-1980s. His song “Holy Spirit” (1986) was a crossover hit.
His sound blends traditional gospel with soul, worship, contemporary, and African musical elements.
He is known for live worship albums, deeply emotive vocals, and songs that connect spiritually in church and concert -- settings.
Ministry & Influence
Aside from music, he pastors High Praise Centre and mentors many younger gospel artists.
