He later moved to Ottawa for university, and a life-changing near-death experience inspired him to fully dedicate his life to Christ. He became actively involved in campus ministry, writing songs and leading worship, which set the foundation for his career in gospel music.

In 2021, Ryan Ofei joined the Atlanta-based collective Maverick City Music as a songwriter and performer.
