Nathaniel Bassey is a Nigerian gospel artist, pastor, trumpeter, and songwriter renowned for his spiritually impactful music and leadership in contemporary worship. He was born on August 27, 1981, in Somolu, Lagos, Nigeria, and hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono in Akwa Ibom State. His father, Elder E. Joshua Bassey, was a trumpeter and minister, which greatly influenced Nathaniel's musical journey.
Musical Journey
Nathaniel Bassey began his musical career in the church and later joined the Rhodes Orchestra as a trumpeter. He gained recognition with his debut album Elohim (2008), featuring the hit track “Someone’s Knocking at the Door.” His music blends jazz, worship, hymns, and medleys, with notable songs like “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.”
