Started in 1997 with original members Todd Smith, Nicol Smith (sister of Todd), and Allan Hall.
Early albums focused heavily on modern arrangements of traditional hymns.
Nicol Smith left in about 2004 to pursue a solo career. After a brief period with Melodie Crittenden, Amy Perry joined to become the third member.
Music & Style
Known for beautiful harmony, emotive vocals, and bringing new life to classic hymns as well as original worship songs.
Their sound often includes piano, expressive vocal leads, and sometimes influences from African languages or styles (especially in their early work), reflecting part of Todd and Nicol’s childhood background.
Lyrical themes often include worship, trust in God through hard times, gratitude, hope, healing, and reflection.
Notable Works & Achievements
Debut album Be Still My Soul (1999) helped establish them, especially for the way they interpreted hymns.
Other significant albums include Press On, Hope of the Broken World, and Firm Foundation.
Some of their well-known songs are Wonderful, Merciful Savior, You Raise Me Up, You Amaze Us.
They’ve won multiple Dove Awards, had several chart-topping Christian radio hits, and have sold millions of albums.
In 2019 they signed with Integrity Music and have had continued success since.
