Chidinma – Biography

Early Life & Education

Born May 2, 1991 in Ketu, Kosofe, Lagos State, Nigeria.

She is the sixth of seven children.

Grew up in a Christian home; joined her church choir around age 6 and began singing publicly early.

Completed secondary school in Lagos/Ikorodu and later earned a degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos.

Rise to Fame & Secular Music Career

In 2010, at age 19, she won Project Fame West Africa.

After that, she signed with a record label (Capital Hill / Goretti Company) and released hit songs including Jankoliko, Kedike, Emi Ni Baller, Run Dia Mouth.

She gained several awards and nominations during her secular career—including “Best Female West African Act” and recognition from MTV, The Headies, and more.

Transition to Gospel Music

On her 30th birthday (May 2, 2021), she announced she was leaving secular music and officially becoming a gospel minister.

She declared herself Minister Chidinma Ekile and expressed that she felt called to serve through gospel music.

Gospel Music Projects & Style

Her first gospel single after the switch was “Jehovah Overdo.”

She followed this with a gospel EP titled New Season, released in August 2021, produced by EeZee Tee. The EP has seven tracks, including a bonus track in French.

Her second studio gospel album Psalm 16 was released in October 2022.

In March 2025, she released another album titled The Road Best Travelled.
