Full name: Israel Mbonyicyambu

Born May 20, 1992, to a Congolese mother; spent the first couple of years in the Democratic Republic of Congo, then moved to Rwanda where he was raised

Grew up in church; his musical gift was nurtured from a young age through choirs and worship settings

Music Career & Style

Israel started releasing music in the mid-2010s. His debut album Number One came out around 2014

He has released several albums, including Intashyo, Hari Ubuzima, and Mbwira

Notable for singing in Kinyarwanda, but in recent years he has begun to reach wider East African audiences by releasing songs in Swahili (e.g. “Nina Siri”, “Nitaamini”, “Sikiliza”)
