Obby Alpha (also Obby Alpha Mwalupogo) is a gospel singer, songwriter, and minister from Tanzania.

Born in 1999, in the Rombo District of the Kilimanjaro region.

Early Life & Struggles

He moved to Dar es Salaam in search of a better life. Initially, he faced tough financial struggles: odd jobs, jobless periods, even driving a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to make ends meet.

He briefly studied finance, but dropped out due to lack of funds.

Breakthrough & Rise

After many singles that didn’t gain much traction, he released “Bora Kumshukuru Mungu” (translated: “Better to Thank God”) in 2023. That song became his major breakthrough; it went viral, gave him wide recognition, and improved his life.

Another popular song is “Pigana Na Mungu”, which also gathered many views and solidified his fame.
