Testimony Jaga, born Salau Aliu Olayiwola on March 9, 1987, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, is a prominent Nigerian gospel artist known for his unique blend of Fuji and Afro-pop music. He is the founder of the "Street Gospel Movement," a ministry that combines music and social welfare services to spread the gospel to the streets of Lagos.
Early Life & Career
Raised in a polygamous family with 27 siblings, Testimony Jaga developed an interest in music at a young age. He began his education at O and A Nursery and Primary School in Ogun State and completed his secondary education at Speed Ladded School. Initially pursuing secular music, he transitioned to gospel music in 2012, leaving his studies at the University of Lagos to focus on his musical career.
Musical Journey & Achievements
Testimony Jaga's gospel music career gained momentum with the release of his debut single "Igara" in 2019, which earned him the "Artist of the Year" award at the LIMA Awards. He has since released several singles, including "Take It," "Jehovah Doer," "Not Enough," and "I Don't Care," often collaborating with artists like Frank Edwards, Akpororo, and Israel Strong.
In 2024, he launched "Fuji Rhapsody," a one-hour non-stop fusion of Fuji gospel sounds, accompanied by a visually stunning music video. His efforts in spreading the gospel through music and community outreach were recognized at the LIMA 2024 Awards, where he received three major honors: Best Music Act of the Year, Music Outreach Group of the Year, and Street Gospel Movement Outreach.
Social Impact & Outreach
Beyond his musical endeavors, Testimony Jaga is committed to community service. In December 2024, he transformed the bustling Computer Village in Ikeja into a hub of praise and celebration, feeding about 4,000 people and providing financial assistance to a young businessman. This act of generosity exemplifies his dedication to using his platform for social good.
